"This series of paintings is inspired by my walks on the Sussex downs. Following the white chalk path across the hill top, bordered with long rye grass and wild flowers.
Views from Ditchling Beacon, Devil's Dyke and towards Lewes. I love to see the sea and on the other side the flat patchwork of fields stretching into the pale distance.
I usually finish my walk with a lovely pub lunch and a half of shandy!!"
Fields of Flowers
"Using my sketches and photos I like to record my memories and feelings about a place into an illustrative picture.
I use images from my travels to create an imaginative story within the painting.
A small village nestled on the hill top surrounded by trees A path will meander through the fields of flowers finding its way through the colourful paint and lead you into an idyllic setting. I hope these pictures remind you of your holidays and transport you into the warm sunshine."
"I had a wonderful painting holiday near Bezier. I was inspired by the landscape. I loved the lines of trees in the distance, the rows of vineyards and the little houses nestled in the hills.
I started to use washes in the background then collaged on top to create depth and hidden words within each painting to add interest . i hope that every time you look at the painting you notice something new."
"I begin everyday, whatever the weather, with a walk on the common with my dog
I watch the seasons and the colours. I love the way the sunlight filters through the trees. I like to include paths to lead you into each picture. I have used collage to add an extra element. The silver birch trees are made of music manuscript and again I have hidden words in each composition."
"I spent all my childhood holidays in Nairn in Scotland visiting my Scottish relations I love the smell of the heather, the fresh air and the ever changing sky I dedicate these painting to my dad, he loved Nairn He introduced me to his favourite places We waded and made dams in the rivers, fast running water, rich brown and frothy like Coca Cola Long walks across the hills Long beaches and fantastic sunsets."
"This series of paintings has been created from a combination of sketches made on my journeys. I am enjoying "markmaking " and mixing up the images to create an illustrative composition
I am inspired by: A trip on the train speeding past the yellow fields, or long walks on the Sussex downs looking below to the ploughed fields A car ride in Majorca, noting little villages nestled on hilltops , windmills and churches palm trees and hedges I incorporate all the ideas to come up with these dream like images I hope you can create your own stories as you look into the painting and each time notice something new ."
Finding Your Path
"We have a house in Menton, South of France, set high on the hill over looking the sea. I am inspired each day by my walks either down to the town or along the coastline.
I wander through the narrow streets, steep steps and paths to the town. I love the soft colours of the houses and the pale green shutters. I love the scent of all the brightly coloured flowers. Each day you can choose a different route I hope this series of paintings in gouache or acrylic lead you into the pathways and transport you into the sunshine."
Fruit & Flowers
"Having trained as a textile designer I am fascinated by pattern, So I have enjoyed accurately painting the fruit or flowers surrounded by china and fabrics in a glorious array of colours.
I like to use complimentary tones to accentuate the light and shadow to make each image flow off the page."
"This collection I created for a local patisserie, delicious strawberry cream cake, redcurrant cheesecake and chocolate cherry cake on antique china plates and set amongst Cath Kidson fabrics
Painted in acrylics these have been my best selling greetings card."
